Director Paul Drumheller

Paul is dedicated. He’s persistent. He provides the best treatment for your health. Paul focuses on the cause of your problems, not just the symptoms. As the clinic owner, “I want to ensure your visit is completely rewarding at 3Dimensional Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning. As a small practice, we can’t afford for you to leave unhappy.” Paul is a licensed physical therapist, a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and Sports Clinical Specialist, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a certified Titleist Performance Institute medical professional and an American Red Cross First Responder. Paul uses a comprehensive approach to your treatment. Serving the Tacoma area since 1994, Paul treats every part of the body, but lower extremity injuries – including the foot and ankle – are his specialty. This serves not only runners, but all athletes - pros and amateurs alike. Paul is also an expert in bike fitting - you’ll ride stronger and pain free. With his special training from the Titleist Performance Institute, golfers rely on Paul to improve mobility and stability to allow them to swing better and lower their scores. Paul collaborates with corporate safety divisions to develop stretching and exercise programs that minimize work-related injuries. He has a background in construction, so he knows where you’re coming from and how to get you back on the job site. When he is not in the clinic, he lectures nationally on running injuries and foot & ankle biomechanics. His motivation is towards treating the active population with an emphasis in training younger athletes to move properly – “This is when I can make the biggest difference.”  As a dad, a husband, a physical therapist, an athlete, and a mentor, Paul lives his passions. During his ‘free time’, he enjoys traveling with his wife and children and working around the house. You’ll also catch him riding his bike, bowling or on the golf course.

Chad

Chad creates solutions. He wants you to move normally and efficiently: he improves strength, pain-free motion, power, agility and endurance. He focuses on immediate improvement, and long-term prevention. “I want to make sure you can return to your passions, sports and daily life without the risk of future problems.”

Chad specializes in working with young athletes, helping heal injuries so they can return to competition as quickly as possible. He’s creative in challenging young athletes to meet their potential while maintaining a love for their sport. He’s driven to think one step ahead. Growing up playing sports year-round, he’s insightful in how to motivate youth athletes.

As an outdoor enthusiast and athlete, he’s developed the tools needed to treat outdoor sports related injuries. Kayakers, hikers, mountaineers, backpackers, climbers, and cyclist are in good hands with Chad. He understands both the gear and physical requirements needed to help you conquer the demands of the great outdoors.

3D PT’s know major traumas are life-changing. “That doesn’t mean you can’t get back to normal life, it just means it might take some extra creativity to get there.” Chad doesn’t settle for second-best.

When stuck indoors, you can find him hand-crafting percussion instruments, hanging out with the dogs, or playing music.

Becky

Becky takes action. She’s a collaborator. Becky treats numerous orthopedic cases involving injuries from sports, car accidents, and on-the-job incidents. Working with surgeons and observing the surgeries have enhanced her knowledge and expertise. She partners with you to facilitate the pre- and post-operative care required to get you back to normal activities in a safe and timely manner. Becky has a special interest in shoulder rehabilitation: she mobilizes the shoulder joint, manipulates soft tissue, and targets the weak tissues to strengthen the shoulder. She also provides sports conditioning for individuals and teams. “It’s really fun to work with college and high school athletes, both in the clinic and in the community.” During the 2006 season, she coordinated the Sportsmetrics program for the Stadium High School Volleyball Team. Becky also interned with the Athletic Training Department at Curtis High School in 2001 and has assisted in speed and agility camps. Becky loves spending time with her children, husband, extended family, and friends. Playing, singing, and dancing are a few favorites - “experiencing life again through my children’s eyes is amazing!” Becky loves to run and ski. She’s also an active member of the Jean Cunningham Guild (part of the Tacoma Orthopedic Association) which supports Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.

Todd Sams, MPT, OCS

Todd Sams, MPT, OCS (email me)

Todd’s a researcher. He analyzes. Todd joined 3Dimensional Physical Therapy in 2005. Before that, he managed an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Federal Way. Todd treats orthopedic injuries for patients suffering back and neck injuries. He uses a hands-on approach to mobilize joints and soft tissue to allow normal movement, before strengthening the area. Todd says, “It means a lot to patients when simple manual therapy allows them to reach higher or move without pain. I do that every day.” Todd has a background in work-conditioning and facilitating Physical Capacity Evaluations. He identifies the functional and physical performance abilities of an injured worker compared to their job demands. His treatment choices aren’t just typical exercises; they’re functional choices for the jobsite. “I know what it takes to get you back to work effectively and safely.” Todd also collaborates with competitive athletes. He helps you develop the strength and agility needed to succeed while preventing injuries. Todd knows it’s important to maintain a good foundation while your injury heals. Todd loves watching his three children play baseball, soccer, basketball, dance, and lacrosse. His active family of five spends their time playing catch, skiing, and taking walks with their black lab.
